Direct TV or Charter Cable Service

Two of the big companies in the cable TV market today are Charter cable and DIRECTV satellite television.  If these big media companies are on your radar when it comes to choosing a satellite or cable company, you may be confused about what they claim to offer, and how much it is going to cost. One thing you can do is sit down and make a list of what each company has to offer, and of course price out everything they offer.  Lets consider a few points to factor in when shopping for DIRECTV vs Charter cable.

Hi Definition – While both cable and satellite now offer hi def content, Dish beats Charter cable quite handily as far as the HD channel count goes. Direct TV claims over 130 hi definition networks, though that number is a bit inflated.  They in reality have approximately 90 when you remove the pay per view channels. Charter TV maxes out at 60 in the best case, and many areas have far fewer HD channels depending on the network.

Sports content – You will be able to find lots of sports content with either provider, as both carry all of the local networks and ESPN. But if you want out of market sports content, DirecTV satellite is the best selection.  They have exclusive rights to the NFL Sunday Ticket package, but it doesn’t stop there. Other packages found on satellite TV but missing from Charter cable include the NBA League Pass and the NASCAR Hotpass serires.

Bundled options – One downfall of satellite TV service is that they do not have the ability to compete with Charter service when it comes to the triple play bundle. Charter communications can offer bundled services which also add high speed internet access and long distance calling through your home phone. Consolidating these services with your cable television company is convenient as far as customer service issues.

So which company is the right one for you? Only you can decide which is best for your situation and for your family.  While HD content and premium sports content may be top priorities for some of us, they aren’t a big deal to others. Reviewing both services and the overall costs will insure that you make the right decision for your situation.

Comparing Comcast vs DIRECTV

Ever since the creation of the TV set, it has been the top media channel in the modern world. In the United States alone, there are hundreds of millions of people who rely on television for both information from news and entertainment from daily scheduled programming. Today, a popular method of TV broadcasting is done via cable networks.

Cable television or CATV was commonly used in mountainous regions where broadcast signals are weak, so they used coaxial cables to broadcast television programming. Today, it is a common television service and in the United States there are a lot of cable providers to choose from. Unfortunately though in most areas, you will just have one cable TV company serving your area, so if you want something different, you will have to go with satellite TV. This is not always a bad thing, its a good idea to line up the companies side by side, comparing Comcast vs DirecTV satellite.

The top cable provider in the United States is Comcast, it is by far the largest cable company in the country. It also offers internet service and is currently in second place and fourth place in providing telephone service. However, they have a reputation for having some of the worst customer service among any company or government agency in the United States. Next is Cox cable, which is owned by Cox enterprises. They have nearly 6 million subscribers to their cable service, internet and phone service. They are currently the third largest cable company in the country. The third largest in terms of revenue is Charter Cable TV company. In terms of revenue, they are behind only from Timewarner and Comcast. Then we have Bright House cable which is the sixth largest cable TV company. Most of these companies now also offer home phone service.

Many are satisfied with the Comcast basic cable packages, however if these do not catch your fancy you can also turn to satellite TV companies like Dish Network satellite who also provides high definition or HD service for those who want it. The only problem being it is sometimes difficult to get Dish Network in your condo
