From cartoons to reality shows to TV series, they all occupy our time and keep us entertained. There are a lot of different shows available however not all television providers give us all the shows we want or sometimes give more than we want. AT&T U-verse Now Has HD Programming

In today’s world folks are looking to maximize their entertainment dollar. Increasing fuel prices, a slowing economy, and high food prices are putting the squeeze on Americans. Luckily, one of the great values in entertainment is your cable or satellite TV service.

If you stop and think about it, you can get a bundle including over 200 stations including premium movie channels like Cinemax and Encore for about $100 dollars a month. That is less than you typically spend for dinner and a first run movie. The latest and greatest in the pay TV market is HD, or high definition service. What should you evaluate when hooking up that new Hi-def TV you just bought?

Don’t forget that your basic cable TV or satellite TV service is not in hi-def. You must specifically buy a package that features this type of programming. So where do smart shoppers start?

Call your current provider and investigate exactly what they offer as far as hi-def service. Satellite television corporations DISH Network and DirecTV have been leading the charge as far as offering the most high definition when you look at channel counts. Cable television providers like Cox also have some nice offerings, such as HD on-demand. Ask exactly how much upgrading to HD will be, and if you need additional equipment. Comparing against satellite DVR units is important.

If what they are offering is not what you need, do a little comparison shopping. The newest offerings include an all hi-def package from DISH Network called Turbo HD. DirecTV offers HD service for just $9.99 per month. Prices vary with cable television companies across the country, so you will have to call your cable operator to see what the cost will be for high definition.

Another consideration is that some telephone companies now provide television service. AT&T now provides their U-verse service in many areas along with voice and high speed internet. Verizon is also in the game, providing their fiber to the home service FiOS in some neighborhoods. It is advisable that you compare services side-by-side, such as U-verse vs Direct TV. These developments are a benefit to the consumer, as more competition encourages lower prices in the end.

Dish Network vs Cox TV

TV has changed a lot over the past 10 years. A huge choice of channels to select from, LCD screens, hi-definition picture. With new and continuously evolving technologies, plopping down in front of the television got a little bit more complicated. These days, the hard decision is no longer selecting your favorite network or what program to watch. It is whether you should select cable or satellite.

Like many other decisions in life, you can make a pro and con list to help you figure out your options. Then come to a decision. We have compiled a short list for you below. This should help you out a bit.

Let’s start with the advantages of cable service. Whether it’s Comcast or Cablevision, digital cable is growing at a fast clip that its creators at Motorola are happy with. Advancements and innovations of this service provided vastly improved audio and picture quality. Plus there are so many more channels. All this comes at a lower price tag than satellite. Cable channels are also easily accessible from multiple rooms in the home.

On the flipside, however, Cablevision costs depend on where you are located as local taxes do have an impact on your monthly cable bill. Likewise, cable companies don’t easily have latest technolgy to stretch into rural parts of America. And since cable TV companies broadcast their signals from a home base, you should also be ready to pay more every month when they increase service costs. This is to update equipment that is needed for your viewing experience. So, comparing its price to satellite TV isn’t quite a valid point of argument. It all ends up pretty much the same with all the added expenses.

Now for the advantages of satellite television service. Your television experience will match that of a cinematic experience. This is no exaggeration, I am being truthful. Satellite TV services such as DirecTV and Dish Network promise hundreds of channels on HD. They also have that movie quality audio and picture displays. Because of the science behind satellite systems, it is readily and easily available in both urban and rural areas. Definite advantage to satellite.

As for the cons, getting started and buying all the equipment when you sign up can be pricey. In addition, satellite reception is moody and highly dependent on the weather. Lining up services next to each other, such as Dish TV versus Cox Cable is the best way to comparison shop. It really doesn’t matter how you make your choice. Flip a coin. Consult your friends and neighbors. It’s your tv, anyway. It’s your choice. Just make sure you don’t regret the pricey decision.

Dish Network Filipino Television

One reason to order satellite TV rather than cable is the foreign language package option. Sure with Comcast or Time Warner cable, you might be able to get a Spanish package added on, but as far as other languages there is not a lot to pick from.

Take for example programming in the Tagalog language, which is primarily spoken in the Philippines. Many individuals now residing in the USA speak this language, yet it is very difficult to find entertainment in their native language. That is where satellite TV companies like Dish Network and Direct TV come into the picture.

Due to the popularity of satellite TV systems, both Dish Network and DirecTV have expanded their foreign language options. Dish Network Filipino programming can bring up to seven different channels into your home in the Tagalog language. The Pinoy Mega Pack headlines the offer from Dish Network, and is only .99 a month~99 each month}. Five different video networks and two 24 hour a day audio channels are available through this bundle.

If you just want a basic Dish TV Filipino package, that is not a problem either. The GMA Pinoy bundle drops the count of Filipino channels down to four, and the price is also lower, coming in at $19.99 a month. The Viva Pinoy pack is cheaper overall, .99 a month~99 each month} to be exact with three channels from the Philippines.

Now you would think that to get these excellent prices, you also have to subscribe to an English language bundle through Dish Network. The great news is that your are not required to do so, though you can add one of the Dish Network packages if members of your household would enjoy this kind of programming. The only requirement to get these Filipino language channels is a two year commitment to Dish Network, and the addition of local channels which are .99 per month with a foreign language package.

So why settle for less entertainment, cable television limits the foreign language options? With Filipino TV packages from D ish Network, an entertaining alternative is available throughout the United States.

Dish TV vs Uverse

If you are looking for a reliable pay television provider, Dish Network and AT&T are certainly ready to take your money. While Dish Network has been around for years, AT&T U-verse is a service still in its infancy. How do these two companies compare when doing a line by line comparison?

With Dish Network, the first requirement is that you have a clear view of the southern sky, as the installer will need to mount a satellite dish on or near your home for reception. This eliminates access to satellite service for some subscribers. AT&T U-verse also has service limitations. The telephone company network is being upgraded one area at a time so that this service can reach the homes and apartments of those served by AT&T.

Now if you actually have the option of choosing from either one of these services, here are a few things to keep in mind.

  • Dish TV service generally requires a two year service commitment, while U-verse is not currently a contract service. If you are moving in the near future, you may want to stay away from satellite TV unless you know you will be able to have it at your new home.
  • While Dish Network only offers cable TV service, U-verse offers voice and high speed internet service as well. If you are shopping for a total communications bundles, then signing up with the phone company may be the better option.
  • When comparing pricing and packages, Dish Network is a little less than U-verse service. For those on a tight budget these days, going with satellite TV may save you $120 or more per year compared to U-verse bundles.

Both companies offer free installation and activation, and you can also find great deals if you are a new customer. Making a few phone calls to get exact quotes and doing a bit of internet research will insure you make the right choice for you and your family.

All About the Superfan Package

DirecTV is marking third quarter of 2008 with a great deal on their NFL Sunday Ticket plan. The regular season for the NFL doesn’t start until September, but training camp starts in late July for most NFL teams, and the pre-season games start in August. Maybe you have passed on the Sunday Ticket deal in the past. If so, now is the time to find the best deals out there, as this is the start of the busy time of year for DirecTV.

Now if you haven’t heard of this tremendous package, here are the details on DirecTV’s NFL Sunday Ticket. Designed as the premium football viewing package, it is designed to give you viewing access to every single NFL game. In most cases, most viewers will see four or five games a week on network television, the Sunday morning and afternoon games, the Sunday Night game, and then Monday night football.

Now if you reside in the area where “your” home team plays, you can usually see your team play on network TV. However, if you don’t live in that market, you would have to make a trip down to the local bar to watch your team’s game. Since DirecTV began the Sunday Ticket package a few years ago, you can always see your home team, from the comfort of your own house.

While out of market fans make up a strong base for the NFL Sunday Ticket, there are other fans that need this bundle too. Fantasy football enthusiasts have been subscribing to the Sunday Ticket package, as it lets them keep up on their fantasy players at any time. Another group buying up the package is those who may have a little money on NFL games. They love the Direct TV Sunday Ticket as it lets them keep up on who covers the spread.

What about price? In past years, the Direct TV Sunday ticket cost has been around $250 per season, billed over 4 monthly installments. This year’s price for existing DirecTV subscribers will be almost $300 dollars. Those who sign up in time get a break on the package.

New DirecTV customers can get a great deal on the Sunday Ticket. Current specials bill the same price .99 per month for 4 months, with a great start up bonus. New customers signing up for NFL Ticket can get the Direct TV Premier package free for 4 months.  If you want the Superfan package though, you will have to pay an extra $100 for HD.  This is DirecTV’s top end package, with 265 stations, 35 sports stations, and also free movie channels.

Free DVR service is also included and an HD DVR upgrade rounds out this great offer on dish TV service.

Cable Television vs Dish TV

When looking for a good deal on home entertainment, you probably are looking at either satellite TV or cable television service.  While you usually only have one cable company to pick from, with satellite television you have two, DirecTV and Dish TV.   Lets briefly compare Dish TV vs cable service.

Satellite TV service has now been around for more than 16 years.  Incredibly, cable TV has now been around about 35 years in most regions.  With cable TV, you usually have higher rates, as they have a last mile network to maintain.  Dish Network is probably the cheapest pay television option.  Their subscription rates are even lower than DirecTV.  Another plus when reviewing Dish TV vs cable.

With Dish Network, you have to have an area to place a satellite dish.  If you live in a condo, this can be an issue.  Some have solved this issue by putting a satellite tripod on their patio, as long as it has a southern exposure.  Cable television of course has hard lines running into almost every apartment building served in the area, so that may be your only choice if you live in a condo.

Digital video recorders have become extremely popular over the past few years, and both cable television companies and Dish Network offer this service.  Reviews of the Dish DVR though are much higher then the DVR’s used by cable operators.  In addition, Dish TV charges much less then your cable company for DVR service, sometimes by as much as $10 a month.

When it comes to HD, or high definition content you definitely need to check with your local cable company to see how many channels they offer.  The number can be quite different based on where you live.  Dish Network does offer over 100 HD channels, but you do have an extra $10 a month charge, while most cable companies do not charge extra for their HD content.

In conclusion, pros and cons exist with both cable television and Dish Network satellite television.  Fully evaluating your selection beforehand will insure you are happy and satisfied with your service later on.

DirecTV Mas Packages

Currently in the United States, it is estimated that there are almost 50 million people who either speak Spanish as their primary or secondary language. You probably have seen it in your own city, more business owners are looking for ways to offer products and services to Spanish speaking customers.

With so many Spanish speakers here in the US, it also means that individuals and families are looking for entertainment in their native tongue. Fortunately for these people, there are now several choices in the cable and satellite television marketplace. Big players like Comcast, Time Warner cable, Direct TV and Dish Network all have expanded their channel lineups in order to bring in more Spanish language networks.

In the past, a Spanish speaking customer would be lucky if he or she were able to get five Spanish stations. But today, services like Direct TV Mas offer upwards of 45 Spanish language networks. These include the popular and well known networks such as Telemundo and Univision.Other popular channels now available with Direct TV Mas are ESPN Desportes, Azteca Mexico, and even Cartoon Network in Spanish for children.

The main competitor to the Direct TV Mas package is the Dish Latino offered by satellite TV company Dish Network. For quite some time, Dish Network was the leader in Spanish language programming, but in recent years the Direct TV Mas packages has become the top choice in the Spanish community.Much of this is also due to the momentum Direct TV has built up with their exclusive sports packages like the NFL Ticket and the Nascar Hotpass racing series. Competition with DishLatino insures that more Direct TV Mas channels will be added in the months ahead.

Direct TV Mas packages begin at just .99 per month for the first year of programming with the Basico package. Of course, Direct TV Mas offers packages that have premium movie channels as well, such as Lo Maximo. This package is similar to the Direct TV Premier bundle, an all inclusive deal with almost 300 channels.
